This year, Vermeer Middle East celebrates 10 years in the equipment business. Here is an overview of its story so far.
Vermeer Middle East was founded in 2004 and is the exclusive dealer for Vermeer products within the Middle East. The company is strategically located in the Jebel Ali Free Zone, Dubai. In addition to equipment sales, training and after sales service, Vermeer Middle East acts as an advisor to its customers by proposing solutions based on an analytical study of their projects.
Over the last few years, the companys presence has spread across the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, especially in Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. This has helped it to provide local support teams and make local parts available in most of the countries. The company also operates in Iraq. Vermeer Middle Easts regional stations are linked together, thus creating a regional network of parts, as well as technical service know-how.
There is a demand for trenchers and surface miners among all the GCC countries in order to carry out open cut operations, site preparation and mass excavation. Apart from this, trenchless equipment are also in vogue as open-cut operations on asphalted roads are not allowed in the region.
Business and investments are expected to get a big boost in the region against the background of major developments in Saudi Arabia, the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar and the World Expo 2020 in the UAE. With these events lined up, the Middle East remains a good market, and the company expects a positive growth for infrastructure development leading to an increased demand of Vermeer equipment.
Vermeer Middle Easts trenchless range comprises small rigs of 6,000 lb-16,000 lb (2,722 kg-7,257 kg), a medium range of 20,000 lb-100,000 lb along with maximum rigs of 330,000 lb-1,320,000 lb. It also offers a wide range of mixing and recycling units, high pressure pumps and vacuum excavators, as well as tooling for all ground conditions including hard rock.
Vermeer equipment works in all ground conditions, as terrains differ between countries and also within the same country. The company has designed all its equipment and tooling as per the HDD contractors requirements, making the company a one-stop shop for its customers.
In addition to the traditional methods of utilising an air hammer and mud motor, Vermeer has recently introduced the D36x50 Series II DR (dual-rod) machine, which is the latest machine that can operate in all ground conditions.
Track trenchers and surface miners
Vermeer has designed all its equipment to cater to infrastructure contractors, mass excavations and mining projects. The companys range of track trenchers and surface miners varies from small machines for small utility works to the massive T1255 and T1655, which are used to execute projects in extreme conditions for pipeline works, mass excavations, etc.
