Established in 2008 Barzan Readymix-QatarWLL,has till date undertaken and executed numerous high profile civil construction projects in Qatar demonstrating consistent quality, dedication and commitment. The company has a proven record of guaranteed quality to date and has consolidated its reputation as a leading provider of first rate quality concrete.
What are the major properties of the ready-mix concrete provided by you? What is your annual production capacity?
The greatest testimony of our ready-mix concrete is the high performance and the long service life of our structures. Our technical and management team incorporates new technologies and methods to satisfy on job-site requirements of the clients. We also apply LEED principles in our projects and are committed to a safe, clean and healthy atmosphere. The total annual production capacity of our batching plants is approximately 1,600,000 cu m.
What types of ready-mix concrete are manufactured by you? Where are your batching plants located?
Concrete is available in variety of grades or based on customer requirements. We have a highly qualified R&D team to assess concrete needs. Some of the concrete types and mixtures manufactured by us include light weight concrete, radiation shielding concrete, fire rated concrete, waterproof and impermeable concrete, self compacting concrete, shotcrete,air-entrained concrete, sulphur concrete, fibre reinforced concrete, concrete in combination of flyash, GGS, microsilica and super fine ash, under water concrete, etc. Our batching plants are located in the Messaieed Industrial Area
Name a few of your ongoing projects. How has the experience of working on these being?
Our on-going projects include; Qatar National Museum, Qaapco LDPE3, Qatar Steel Melt Shop,Qapco LDPE4, Kahramaa Sub-Stations, Qatalum etc.. Executing such high profile projects was challenging as the clients were determined to achieve the best value for their money. They were provided with complete information on the design, quality objectives and best timely services
How do you encounter challenges faced during project execution?
The company maintains a fully staffed technical services department. Prior to commencement of any project and during project execution, the qualified staff visits the site and provides practical advice and engineering services. Strictly adhering to our quality management system, accredited by ISO:9001 Quality Austria, also ensures the smooth progress of our day-to day-operations.

Our major clients include Qatar Petroleum, QAAPCO, Qatar Steel, Qatalum, Qafco,Kahramaa, ASTAD and Ashghal, etc.
Kindly name a few innovative technologies that you use in your projects?
Modern ready-mix concrete provides remarkable flexibility in meeting the needs of challenging placement and sustainable design considerations. In recent times we designed, produced and supplied light weight concrete unit weight less than 1,200 kg/cu m with a compressive strength of 20 MPa importing special pumice material from Greece, Under water concrete for jetty expansion project and low heat of hydration 60MPa concrete and white colour concrete and SCC concrete was used in Hamad hospital project to reach 40 m-height in a perfect blend to avoid segregation and to fill the forms with congested reinforcement without voids.
How do you view the ready-mix concrete industry in Qatar? What are the upcoming trends in this sector?
The Qatar construction market is witnessing tremendous growth and is in the throes of a massive construction boom with new projects springing up continuously. The readymix industry is an essential element of that boom. Thework currently underway will lay the foundation for tomorrow's growth.
With FIFA hosting the 2022 world cup, Qatar is expected to develop environment- friendly international stadiums and transportation facilities, of which railways will be the largest component. Seeing the number of seminars being held in Qatar in the recent past, it is certainly a challenge for us to adopt new technologies and formulate and design concrete to fit the purpose including both environmental and economical.
What are the major challenges facing the industry today? How can these be overcome?
No other construction material provides the strength, durability and economy of readymix concrete. The major challenges in this industry includes the procurement of best materials as much of these have to be imported and to increase our ability to respond to customer's requests through improved planning, making our production and delivery more efficient.
How do you envisage the industry progressing in future? What are your plans for the same?
The government's ambitious plans for upgrading and improving the infrastructure indicates a bright future for everyone involved in the construction industry. We expect a vertical progress by the end of 2013 until 2020. Our plans include investment on new equipment and expanding our fleet size, increasing technical staff and the training it needed.
