Overlooking the Karaiskaki Stadium in Athens is V-ammos, a breathtakingly beautiful restaurant designed by Greek design studio LM Architects.
Sports aficionados in Athens can now feast their eyes on some live action as they dine at the V-ammos restaurant. Located in the south-west of the city, this restaurant is positioned directly above the stands of the Karaiskaki Stadium, offering diners a panoramic view of the 32,000-seater stadium of the Greek football club Olympiacos. The design and structure of the restaurant owe their excellence to the Greek design studio LM Architects. The architecture of V'ammos is a coexistence of tradition and new technologies at a transcendental level. The architects have integrated the natural and artificial landscape and incor-¡porated the client's vision to create this unparalleled restaurant.
Ocean muse The shell that houses the restaurant - Karaiskaki Stadium, which is built over the water - was a benchmark in the design proposal. The architects took inspiration from Athens' coastline and introduced a sea-wave like design in the form of an optically moving roof element. This element, which is a result of parametric design, dominates the environ-¡ment and gives identity to the restaurant. The construction was adapted at various stages to hide the structural elements and the electromechanical installations.
Bar art The bar at the back of the restaurant is an art installation in itself. 300 cooking pots have been stacked under the wooden counter to create a striking design. The bar becomes the pi+¿ce de r+¬sistance by giving the cooking pots an identity and highlighting the visual impression created by its repetition and correlation in space. In the overwhelmingly white interiors, the cooking-pan counter stands out in stunning contrast.
Surprise elements The entrance door to the restaurant bears a striking red beehive pattern that again provides a contrast to the overall white d+¬cor. The clean lines of the design intentionally keep the focus on the ceiling and the bar. The furniture too, exclusively created by LM Architects for this restaurant, has square and round surfaces. The creative streak flows into the restrooms, with the unexpected use of cooking pans as washbasins and exposed pipelines for faucets. Overall, the linear layout of the floor plan interspersed with successive separate rooms offers an over-¡whelming ambience of the stadium.
Sports lover or not, the stunning interiors in an awesome setting will ensure the customer comes back for more...
